Front End Uploads and Library Syncing

I thought one of the features of the WP Media Folder plugin when used with the Cloud Addon was that files uploaded to the Media Library could be automatically synced to Dropbox, Google Drive etc when uploaded. What difference does it make if some other plugin with front end capability is used on the frontend by a site user to upload an item to the WP media library? Files uploaded to the WP media library will only sync with cloud services if explicitly uploaded on the backend? Or will it work, and I was just confused about what you meant in your response? A little more clarification on this would be appreciated. Thanks.
