Is it possible to have some posts with featured images and then move those images to drive or dropbox without the image being detached from the post?

When you transfer files to cloud folders in the Media library, your images will be automatically replaced with a new URL path.
Nonetheless, to prevent any data loss, it is advisable to create a backup of your site before proceeding with the implementation.
